Matt Hood has built his legal and professional career primarily in the areas of business and estate planning, providing solutions and strategies for business owners in the U.S. and abroad to develop well-planned business entities with an emphasis on the avoidance of pitfalls and business disputes. In addition, Matt assists clients with business disputes and provides estate planning for business owners and their families. He takes a holistic approach in resolving issues and developing strategies for his clients, considering all facets of the business from tax compliance, asset protection, and planning for the growth of the business.
Drawing upon his experience as a litigator, skilled negotiator, and contract drafter, Matt brings a unique blend of several legal skills to Expat Legal Services Group. As a founding member of the Hood Law Group, a Kansas City law firm, Matt and his father Ed have extensive experience providing domestic and international families with tax and estate planning, tax compliance, and general business matters.
In addition to Matt’s extensive background in estate planning, with a focus on avoidance of probate through the use of revocable trusts and other non-probate transfers, he has provided business and tax consulting services to numerous start-ups and established businesses in the U.S. and abroad. He assists Expat Legal Services Group clients with choice of entity decisions and the tax impact of the same, preparation of buy/sale and asset purchase agreements, employee and executive agreements, and M&A, and provides ongoing legal support for small and medium-sized businesses in all stages of their life cycle.
